Fort Lewis Defeated By Chadron State

October 17, 2009.  Chadron, NE. - The Fort Lewis Football team fell to the defending RMAC Champions, Chadron State earlier this afternoon 6-38. Chadron State was able to limit the Skyhawk offensive production while creating much of their own. The Skyhawks drop to 1-7 overall and 0-6 in the RMAC.

The first half belonged to the Eagles, only giving up 45 yards of offense to the Skyhawks and tallying 271 of their own. Chadron was able to score on their first two drives with an 18 yard pass and a five yard scamper, making it 14-0.  Their third touchdown came on a 23 yard pass play to send Chadron into the half with a 21-0 lead.

The Skyhawks were able to find the endzone in the second half when Tim Jenkins found Justin Johnson for a 54 yard strike, unfortunately the extra point  was blocked. Chadron State put up two touchdowns and a field goal in the second half to seal the victory at 38-6.

Johnson led the Skyhawk offense with 15 catches for 170 yards. His 15 receptions tied him for second highest receptions against Chadron State. Tim Jenkins went 20-33 with 190 yards in the air. The Skyhawks will hit the gridiron again next weekend as they take on Nebraska-Kearney on October 24 at 12:00pm in Durango.
